Scarlett and Gareth got married at the Sussex venue of Northeast Manor School, and it turns out that schools make a great setting for an awesome, fun wedding! Our happy couple got ready a few streets from each other in the centre of Brighton, and an atmosphere of pure laughter and relaxation was obvious from the get-go. Being used to (understandably) nervous brides and grooms, this was an interesting change of pace. Scarlett got ready at their stylish and cool Brighton house, and Gareth got ready with his groom squad at an Air BnB around the corner.
Northeast Manor is a picturesque venue in the Sussex countryside, and with Gareth being a graphic designer, Scarlett and Gareth really expressed their personality as a couple throughout the day, with understated but stylish touches throughout. During the ceremony, Scarlett and Gareth seemed totally at ease, and to be really enjoying the occasion – as well as finding the funny side! Cocktails and cold beers on the lawn followed, and with scorching sun throughout the day, the laughter never seemed to stop.
The groom and his family are passionate Welsh rugby supporters, and, as Scarlett and her dad are equally massive England rugby fans, a lot of good-natured banter set the tone for some truly hilarious speeches. Some absolutely belting jokes were made (often at Gareth’s expense), but luckily Gareth was capable of giving as good as he got, and Scarlett did her own speech. Brides’ speeches are becoming more and more common, and I for one am very much here for it!
As the sun faded, Gareth and Scarlett went for some portraits with me, and we just goofed around in the golden light for a bit. They were so happy and natural together, that it was clear why they were getting married. By this point, the band were primed to get that dance floor throbbing, and they did that, after a very sweet first dance between Gareth and Scarlett, where they set the tone for a dance floor where inhibitions were very much left at the door.
If you’re planning a wedding day that’s all about the fun and the joy, and want the photography to capture that, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to get in touch here and we can get something in the diary.
