When a chance to photograph a wedding in Ibiza comes up, it turns out that it’s very easy to say yes! Zannah and Kirill got married in a Yoga retreat in the quieter, more rural part of Ibiza, with an intimate group of friends and family, and the day was positively drenched in emotion. A lot of their friends were clearly a tight-knit group, who had known each other since university, and there’s something about destination weddings, where it feels like everyone is in ‘holiday mode’ and just bonds in that amazing way, that you can’t replicate anywhere else.
Can Amonita is a beautiful and secluded yoga retreat that has a luxurious and (unsurprisingly) relaxing atmosphere. With cool and interesting sculptures dotted around the place, plus water features, a swimming pool, and nearby hills and forests to explore, it’s a great place to chill out as a group, but also to have a lot of fun. This is something Zannah and Kirill’s wedding had in spades.
Zannah is very close to her boss, and he conducted their ceremony. Their day was full of those kinds of personal touches, that make for the most emotional and fun weddings. Their readings were done by their best friends; their other friends played the guitar; and there was a singalong for all the guests, instead of a hymn.
A leisurely and indulgent wedding breakfast at a long table was punctuated by hilarious, poignant, and heartfelt speeches by the best men, bridesmaids and bridesman, and the bride and groom themselves. As the sun went down, the speakers were fired up, and a variety of their friends took turns at the decks, as the dance floor was genuinely heaving. Leaving the venue, I was in awe at how close the couple and their friends are, and it felt like I’d made a whole new set of pals.
If you’re planning a wedding day that’s all about the fun and the joy, and want the photography to capture that, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to get in touch here and we can get something in the diary.
