How I work.

Wedding photography is my dream job, and I’m incredibly passionate about what I do. Despite that, I am a big believer that it’s your wedding, not a photo shoot. While you’re enjoying your wedding day, I aim to make wedding images that are beautiful and with an emphasis on the creative, but above all, to be natural, honest slices of nostalgia that transport you back to the day itself. I always aim to capture the full spectrum of emotions and moments; whether it’s finding the beautiful details, small tranquil moments, epic landscapes, passionate climaxes and everything in between.

90% of the time, I work in a purely documentary way, but it’s also super important to take some creative but natural portraits of you both – the beauty of these is that a couple of relaxed and short portrait shoots throughout the day can be the perfect way to spend some time together, as well as get some great shots of just the two of you.

Who I am.

Before I talk about myself, I wanted to mention the man in the picture to the left. He is my grandad Leo, and he was one of the most influential people in my life. He always encouraged me and my pursuit of creativity and art, and he became a sculptor and poet later in life. Some of my happiest childhood memories are the immortal summers we spent at his home in Devon, and one of my favourite pictures from my own wedding is him hugging my wife just after the ceremony. Although he’s no longer with us, I’m so glad I took pictures of him, because they allow me to remember him and the inspiration he gave me and everyone around him.

I’ve been with my wife Sarah for the best part of 20 years, married for 8. Being married changed our relationship in hard-to-define ways, but it feels like we’ve never been closer. In July 2022 we had our daughter Florence, and it’s been the most life-changing but rewarding thing to happen to us. Having a daughter has changed my perception of the world, and what matters. I love seeing the world through her eyes, as well as documenting and guiding her growth as a person.

But what about me as a person? I love all art forms, but particularly movies – honestly, it all got a bit much at one point! I still have a collection of over 1000 DVDs and Blu-rays; running the gamut from Hollywood blockbusters to silent German films from the 1920s. I’ve got a membership at my local cinema, and I try to go as often as possible. That said, I’m no film snob, I’m happy to say I have a long list of not-so-guilty pleasures!

“We’re 10 minutes in, and I’m already in tears with how lovely they are! We are blown away… We love these pictures! It was the most amazing day, and I’m so glad it was you who we shared it with!”
