Ham Yard Hotel Wedding Photography
Ham Yard Hotel is a photographer’s playground — Kit Kemp’s bold interiors, the leafy courtyard tucked away from Soho’s streets, and that glorious rooftop terrace with its kitchen garden and skyline views. Every corner has texture, colour and character, which means your photos will never look like anyone else’s.
Weddings here move between spaces — courtyard, terrace, event rooms — and I love that rhythm. I work quietly in the background, catching the laughter over drinks on the roof and the small moments in between, using the hotel’s warm, layered light rather than fighting it. You enjoy the party; I’ll make sure you can relive it.

The History of Ham Yard Hotel
The Ham Yard Hotel, situated in the heart of London’s vibrant Soho neighbourhood, traces its rich history back to its establishment in 2014. The hotel, designed and owned by the esteemed Firmdale Hotels group, was the vision of Tim and Kit Kemp, whose flair for creating ‘home away from home’ environments resonates with visitors from across the globe. Historically, the area surrounding Ham Yard was a bustling space for traders in the 18th century, symbolizing the vibrancy of London’s commercial life. Over time, it transitioned from a trading area to a luxury hotel complex, retaining its historic character while integrating a contemporary appeal. The hotel has become a sought-after wedding venue due to its central location, quaint aesthetic, and the richness of its culture evident in its artwork and interior decoration planned by Kit Kemp herself. While relatively new to London’s hotel scene, its unique blend of history, style, and luxury renders the Ham Yard Hotel an ideal embodiment of Soho’s ongoing evolution.

FAQs
Can we get wedding portraits on the Ham Yard Hotel rooftop?
Yes — the rooftop terrace is one of the best portrait spots in Soho, with its kitchen garden, sculptural trees and city views. Late afternoon light up there is beautiful, and it’s only ever a few minutes away from your guests.
What’s the light like for photography inside Ham Yard Hotel?
The event rooms have warm, flattering ambient light and plenty of characterful detail. I shoot with fast lenses that handle lower light cleanly, so the atmosphere Kit Kemp designed comes through in your photos exactly as you remember it.
Do you photograph the surrounding Soho streets during Ham Yard weddings?
Absolutely, if you’d like to. The pedestrianised streets and neon-lit corners around Ham Yard make brilliant, characterful backdrops for a quick ten-minute portrait session while your guests enjoy the drinks reception.
