Searcys at The Gherkin Wedding Photography

Thirty-nine floors above the City, Searcys at The Gherkin gives your wedding a backdrop nobody forgets — floor-to-ceiling glass, London spread out in every direction, and that famous diagrid geometry framing it all. Photographing here never gets old.

The light up there is extraordinary — clouds drifting past mid-ceremony, the city glittering as evening falls. I keep my approach calm and unobtrusive, catching real moments against that panorama, and the portraits take minutes: step to the glass, let London do the rest.

FAQs

When is the best time for photos at The Gherkin?

Sunset into dusk is the magic window — the sky warms, then the city lights come up behind you. I time a short portrait break to catch the transition, so your gallery gets both daylight and glittering night views.

Does the curved glass architecture affect photography?

It enhances it — the diagrid creates striking graphic lines and reflections I use deliberately in portraits. It’s one of the few venues where the building itself composes the shot.

Is Searcys at The Gherkin suitable for intimate weddings?

Yes — the top-floor private dining rooms suit smaller celebrations beautifully, with the same sweeping views. An intimate dinner above the City makes for wonderfully atmospheric, close-up storytelling.
